Frequently asked questions

1. What is the World Creole Music Festival?

The World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) is Dominica’s premier music event, celebrating Creole music and culture through three nights of live performances by local, regional and international artists. It’s held annually at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau.

2. When does the festival take place?

The festival is held on the last weekend in October, coinciding with Dominica’s Independence season. In 2025, the festival takes place October 24–26.

3. Where is the festival held?

All performances take place at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau, Dominica’s capital. Fringe events happen across the island in the weeks before and after the festival.

4. What types of music are featured?

The WCMF showcases the full spectrum of Creole music, including bouyon, cadence-lypso, zouk, reggae, dancehall, soca and afrobeat, alongside other genres that reflect the Creole world’s diversity.

5. How can I buy tickets?

Tickets can be purchased online at www.dominicafestivals.com, at official ticket booths in Roseau and through selected regional outlets. Visitors are encouraged to buy early to secure the best prices.

6. Is there seating at the venue?

Yes. The stands of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium are open for general admission seating, available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are also standing areas on the field closer to the stage.

7. Are children allowed at the festival?

Yes. Children can attend but must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that the festival continues until daybreak and features large crowds, so parental discretion is strongly advised.

8. What should I bring?

Comfortable clothing and footwear, a light rain jacket (October is wet season), a flag and cash or cards for food, drinks and merchandise. Large bags and restricted items may be subject to security checks.

9. Are there other events happening around the festival?

Yes. In the two weeks leading up to and one week after the festival, Dominica hosts several fringe events, including Ti Villaj Kweyol, Wato, White Sunset, Independence Gopwell and Rize & Whine.

10. Where can I stay during the festival?

Accommodation options include hotels, guesthouses, eco-lodges and Airbnb rentals. Roseau and nearby areas offer the most convenient access to the venue. It’s strongly recommended to book early, as accommodations sell out quickly during the festival.

11. How do I get to Dominica for the festival?

Dominica is accessible by air through Douglas–Charles Airport (DOM). Airlines serving Dominica include American Airlines, United Airlines, Caribbean Airlines, InterCaribbean Airways, LIAT 2020, WINAIR, Sunrise Airways and Contour Airlines. Travelers can also arrive by ferry from Guadeloupe, Martinique and St. Lucia.

12. Is there transportation to and from the venue?

Yes. Local buses, taxis and car rentals are available. Many accommodations offer taxi services to the stadium on festival nights.

13. Can I cover the festival as media?

Yes. Accredited media houses can apply for credentials through the Discover Dominica Authority. Application details are shared on the official website ahead of the festival.

14. How can I stay updated on announcements?
