Dominica Festivals Committee: Redefining The Waitukubuli Experience
Rich in culture, with dynamic energy and unparalleled natural beauty, Dominica is home to some of the Caribbean’s greatest talents. The birthplace of musical genres Bouyon and Cadence-Lypso, the island’s shores remain an ever evolving source of astounding cultural creativity.
Enter the Dominica Festival Committee. Created to refine, nurture and proudly display Dominica’s unique cultural landscape, DFC is tasked with the special (and exciting!) responsibility of promoting, marketing, and producing all of the festivals hosted on Waitukubli.
On island, DFC is the premiere conduit for the export of Dominica’s music, arts and culture, creating a world class connection to global consumers. The Committee’s core mandate is to harness the human resource potential within Dominica’s cultural and entertainment industries, showcasing the nation’s personal élan to the world.
Regionally and internationally the Committee is the driving force behind the Public Relations and Marketing campaigns bolstering Dominica’s festivals.
The Committee includes on its calendar Mas Dominik, Dominica’s traditional Carnival celebration on the Monday and Tuesday preceding Ash Wednesday, Jazz ‘n Creole on the Sunday preceding Pentecost Monday and the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF), beginning on the final Friday in October each year.
